FEELING PRETTY

Back in the dog lot after the pedicure and salon treatment, the dogs returned a bit more self assured and were walking around like they were saying, "hey, look at us, new image, pretty cool huh!" More surprising than how silky and clean they look is the softness of their coats. They seem to love the irresistible urge for people to pet them, even more than usual. Because of how delighted they seem to be with their new look, we are thinking about having all the dogs groomed after the first snow, hoping they'll stay clean for the winter.Friday, Rohn & the parade team leave home at 2:00 am, for a 4:00 am arrival at airport, 6:30 am departure for Seattle. They dogs will be staying at dog musher's kennel in Redmond. Martin and I leave 6:00 am Saturday for SEA, meet up with the dogs & our boys, head to the parade staging area around 3:00 for a 6:30 Show Time. Parade will be broadcast in the Seattle area on Channel 7 KIRO.

GETTING READY for the PARADE

Roy, Lionel, Jefferson, Orion, Frodo, Sam, Yosemite and Angel(substituting for Otter) got up early today to go to the groomer. The Dog Wash in Wasilla was brave enough to take our 8 sled dogs for a makeover. The dogs looked a bit perplexed when put in a bath tub and didn't really know what was up with the warm shower but they sure felt good when they were all done.

MID SUMMER NEWS
We are enjoying HOT weather and daily dog walks. Celine's pups venture out onto the dock in the tiny lake behind our house. (of course, food treats enhance their bravery.)
Rohn is commercial salmon fishing with Mike Jonrowe in Bristol Bay for another 10 days.
Nikolai is in French Immersion summer school at UW in Seattle.
We are looking forward to the TORCH PARADE in Seattle on Saturday evening, July 25.

FISHING ON THE SALTY DOG

DeeDee Jonrowe caught the first halibut!

Donna had a fish on within 30 seconds of putting her hook in the water. Check out how calm the water is. Short sleeved fishing in Cook Inlet!!!!

I finally got one in the boat.

One of the Salty Dogs looks on.

Nothing better than a productive day of food gathering with great friends, on a great boat, with a Skipper who put us directly on the fish!!!! We really could call the day CATCHING not fishing.

On Monday, I was invited to go on a family charter with Salty Dog Charters and Captain Tim. We caught lots of halibut, had calm seas and clear skies. As we all said, it doesn't get much better than that.
If you want to CATCH go to http://www.saltydogcharters.com/ and have a great day with Captain Tim!
