Martin did complete his first 24 hour layover in Takotna after moving up to 2nd place behind DeeDee Jon Rowe. Leaving from Takotna onto Ophir and Cripple, Martin was listed at 3rd but the frontrunner, John Baker, had yet to make his first 24 hour stop. The Happy Trails team still looked great with only the first dog being dropped from the team.

Be sure to check previous days' reports for additional race info!

I'm in an information void! I was hoping that Martin would call from Takotna but I'm sure there were more pressing issues at hand. I hope he got a lot of rest and "relaxed".

The next 24 hours will be critical. The trail from Cripple to Ruby can seem to stretch on forever!

The boys and I are looking forward to spring break which starts on Friday. We'll probably head up to Nome on Monday.

Happy trails,
Kathy
