Racing: Martin after a recent training run: "Yesterday found me on fresh trails with 18 dogs in harness. The going was slow ,the snow was deep and the temperature was warm resulting in a pretty sluggish pace. After about 90 minutes it happened... the dogs started to shift gears.... without any speed up commands they started to increase their speed and work intensity. I was so elated, that is exactly what I am a looking for. I think shortly before peaking the dogs give you signals like that. I have experienced that energy building scenario in prior years and usually done real well in those years.... one can only hope......" |
