A Tale of Two Iditarods

Kathy's nephew, Mark Chapoton, ran two Iditarods with Buser yearling dogs in 1993 and 1994.   A Tale of Two Iditarods chronicles his two trips.  Mark was a relative newcomer to Alaska and definitely had NO experience mushing dogs.

Excerpt:  "The dogs went like a freight train.  Most of the time I couldn't see more than two or three pairs of dogs for the winding trail.   My leaders may have been going uphill in a turn to the left, dogs a few back might  be in a turn to the right, dogs still further back would be going through a dip in a stream bed, and I'd be following with the sled snaking between a big rock and some birch trees."

The book is Mark's story in Mark's words and you really will feel like you are there with him experiencing the unique and varied drama the Iditarod Trail has to offer.
